"The soul of India lives in it's villages", said the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Latest socio-economic census data (2011) reveals that almost 73% of the households in the country were in rural areas i.e. villages. Of the 121 crore Indians, 83.3 crores live in rural areas while only 37.7 crores stay in urban areas. Despite this, India's vision today is highly urban-centric.

The stats reveal even more. As per the report from the World Bank, 22% of Indians live below the poverty line. The Global Hunger index, 2017, ranks India 100th out of the 119 countries on the index, which measures undernourishment, child wasting, child stunting, and child mortality. India ranks 120 among 131 countries in Female Labor Force Participation rates, reports World Bank Group. Regarding the quality and accessibility of health care, the country ranks 145th out of 195 countries, based on the Global Burden of Disease study, 2018. And the bottom line is that villages feature almost exclusively in all these stories of disappointment.

Here, Human Welfare Foundation (HWF) tries to make a difference. HWF's flagship project Vision 2026 is envisioned to actively participate in the building process of the nation by transforming villages as Model Villages through long-term projects and systematic intervention strategies. HWF's Model Village Program is designed to realize this goal.

Model Village Program offers a diverse range of volunteering opportunities. Through these, you can contribute your constructive share to the building of the nation by engaging with the villages on a grassroots level, and ultimately undergo a transformative journey yourself.

The Model Village Program will run in 5 Stages.

Once you register for the program, our Program Coordinator will make an appointment with you for a telephonic interview to follow your plans and ideas.

Volunteering dates will be allocated based on your application form and telephonic interview. Our Coordinator will try maximum to allow the dates you requested for

Our Program Coordinator will assign to you the action plan in the sector of your interest. Your work will be closely monitored and evaluated by the coordinator.

After the competition of the volunteering program, you will be awarded certificates authored by Human Welfare Foundation.

You will be bearing the cost to travel to our office in New Delhi. The Program will cover the cost of your travel to the allotted village and back accommodation and food until the completion of your duration
